Notes on this article for teachers and students:
1. In America, like in most countries, spelling words correctly in formal documents is very important.
2. If you don't know they meaning of a word, use a simpler work. Very few people are impressed by big words.
3. If you make a mistake, it's okay. Normally, people only laugh when native speakers of a language get it wrong. If a native speaker laughs at you, ask them how many languages they speak. That will normally shut them up. Keep in mind however, that in a job interview situation, the interviewer is always right!
4. A final caution: the word 'shit' is considered a 'bad' word. Don't ever use this word unless you are very familiar with the person and you are certain that you are using it in the correct way. Real life is not like the movies where everyone swears all the time!
